ICE RESCUE TRAINING: First responders from Stanton Fire and Rescue and Pilger spent the morning training with Pierce Fire and Rescue at Maskenthine Lake, along with Stanton County EMA. Today marked perfect training conditions because this is the weather where people mistakenly think it’s OK for one last day ice fishing. We stress - it is NOT safe. The ice is breaking off as they train. We will have a full story in this week’s issue and thank our first responders for all their volunteer hours! #I

A deer was rescued after it was seen struggling on the frozen surface of Loon Lake in Washington. Video shows the deer having difficulty standing on the ice. After crews arrived at the scene, one firefighter was seen restraining the animal while others pulled a rope to guide the deer back to shore. The deer was eventually set free. | ABC7
