På latin hedder den Anableps anableps, som betyder “den, der kigger op” – et passende navn til den storskællede firøje, der med sine todelte øjne kan se både over og under vandet på én gang. Men firøjen skiller sig også ud på en anden måde. Hannerne og hunnerne er nemlig ikke symmetriske – deres kønsorganer vender enten til højre eller venstre. Derfor kan kun en højredrejet han parre sig med en venstredrejet hun, og omvendt. En spøjs kærlighedsstrategi, hvor ikke alle er skabt for hinanden 👥♥️
