One of my favourite visual tools for ballet class is a pair of sharp-bladed scissors ✂️ …. There’s often an audible gasp when I pull them from my bag (what’s she up to now??!!) But they replicate perfectly the straighten lines of our ballet legs when we ‘pull them up’ and lock them straight, to execute battements tendus, battements glissés, grands battements and so on. When you fix the image of the snapping scissors in your mind’s eye, it’s easier to remember to replicate those straight lines. L
