“The Dead Sea Scrolls are a collection of ancient Jewish writings discovered between 1947 and 1956 in caves along the northwest side of the Dead Sea. They include around 970 documents and over 10,000 fragments, some of which are entire books of the Old Testament. What they did was push back our understanding of the biblical text close to a thousand years, allowing scholars to compare ancient copies with medieval manuscripts. Shockingly, many of them are nearly identical, showing an incredible fi
