Buttercupp using Royal as a rubbing post but also showing a dominance behavior. As we near the rut (mating season) the male elk are starting to establish rank. Buttercupp compared Stretch and Royal's antler size and could clearly see that Royal was the underling. Buttercupp's antler rubbing action peacefully let Royal know who's boss.
