Problems with Windows updates are nothing new, but right now there’s a seriously annoying bug that’s affecting certain Windows 11 users—they haven’t been getting any Windows updates for months.
Microsoft has resolved Windows 11 KB5089549 install failures tied to low EFI partition space through KB5089573, which also brings a ton of other improvements.
Microsoft confirmed that KB5089549 can fail with error 0x800f0922 on Windows 11 devices with low EFI partition space, and shared workarounds are available.
The latest Windows 11 optional update is KB5070311. It is the November 2025 update and it came a little late (Dec. 1). But now it’s here, it’s provided some headaches alongside the new improvements.
